With the change in the weather so comes the change in produce at the market. Banana’s and pineapples from Northern Queensland continue to be in good supply and reasonably priced. The local strawberry season is coming to an end and Queensland supplies should start to truck in next month. Blueberries and raspberries are in very light supply.
Mangoes and stonefruit are all but over and are being replaced by good supplies of Imperial Mandarins from Queensland. The popular avocado is in moderate supply and this trend should continue throughout the month.
Leafy greens, broccoli and cauli’s are in tight supply at the moment. The local season of green beans/sweet corn is coming to an end and the supply is light, but Queensland supplies have started to trickle in.
Good supplies of custard apples, olives and chestnuts on the market floor is a healthy sign we are headed into the winter season at the Melbourne Market.
